Sweet Little Project
So a few months back I upgraded the server. I put in a massive amount of disc space for what we (or I) needed.
I had my reasons, honest.
So last night while doing laundry I decided to setup mt-daadp on the server. I configured it to search /media for files. I did a ‘chmod -R +ogw /media’ to set everyone to have permissions — then I fired up samba and shared /media to a few select users in the house.
After that, I mounted the MEDIA share off the server over samba with my ibook, and dumped over 6GB of music into it. mt-daapd was running like a champ, and now I’ve got my full iTunes library shared to any computer in the house.
The next task is to get my old 7600 (w/ G3 upgrade) to run OS X 10.2, plug a bluetooth adapter into it, install salling clicker, and put all it’s parts into a custom case that’ll fit by a stereo. Then I can run it headless and have an older (but still perfectly functional) version of iTunes act as a remote-controllable airport express.
With both me and the woman having bluetooth phones, I figure this should be an interesting solution. :-)
I’d really love to replace the 7600 with a mini sometime in the future. :-)

Dude use 10.3.9 – you’ll be happier – then you can also use iTunes 7 with it. Most of the software doesn’t work realy well in 10.2.

My friend pointed me to jinzora2. That supports anything that takes m3us and pls lists. But this looks cool, if you use iTunes.
