Edge Jointer on the cheap!
Why pay $200 – $300 for a benchtop 6″ jointer when I can use my router table, a straight bit, and these shims to get the same edge joining job done for dirt cheap?
I don’t know.
I have some sanding to finish up on the oak shelf between the great room and kitchen. Once I get that done, finished, and out of the garage — I’ll let you know if the jointer is _really_ a necessity for straight 90 degree edges.
Update Granted, I’m only doing small edge joints on stock that’s really no more than 3/4″ thick. So I don’t need 6″ of cutterhead to plane down the wood. I’ll note how well this works in the coming weeks…
