What’s Her Name? Elizabeth Mae Varner.
About 2:45 AM Kylene finally had it, got mad, and pushed all 7lbs, 1.1 ounces of the 19.75 inch long Elizabeth Mae Varner out into the bright lights of the big, big world.
My wife is awesome.
My dark-haired, brown-eyed daughter (with the massively coned head) is beautiful.
I’m a blessed, blessed, man — and that weighed in heavily on the choice of the name.
Mom and daughter are doing well. We’re all tired, but we’re doing just fine, Elizabeth is nursing as I type this (yay! Food!) and I’m on cloud nine. I can’t stop grinning. My cheeks are sore.
A little less than two hours of pushing, a couple hours of pitosin and epidural prior to that. Kylene went fast once things started going. She loved the epidural — although I think she would have liked a little less feeling toward the end. I think she’ll forget that part eventually. As for me, I won’t forget holding legs, puke-bucket duty, or cutting the cord. That was pretty cool.

I was wondering what the chances were that you’d end up with something else on the Thanksgiving table other than a turkey!
What this means in practical terms is there will be a fair number of years where her birthday is on Thanksgiving, of course :P
Congrats, and glad to hear things went about as according to plan as babies are likely to do.
I’m just imagining you’re now getting her prepared for future geek status :D

Remember, when you pass the baby around the table, then you notice some fallen pumpkin pie on your lap, always remember: That’s not pumpkin pie !

Awesomeness!
Wishing you, Kylene, and your new addition the best :)
