So long, Sharon. Stained Doors. Yay.

I cut the rose of sharon bushes beside the deck down to the stumps. They, like everything else at our house, were planted a whopping 6 – 8 inches from base of the deck. It was overgrowing the deck rails, we couldn’t see into the back yard to see where the dog was.

Much less, with Elizabeth getting to be somewhat mobile, we want to be able to see the yard next year when she’s able to teeter around outside. It’s a safety thing.

Since these bushes were way too big to transplant and I’m not sure I’d want them anywhere on the whopping 1/4 acre property anyhow, I figured I’d just cut them down to stubby stumps, and axe out the stump later. Kylene helped me bag up the cuttings, while Elizabeth was in the exersaucer thingy in the shade on the deck with a hat on. I’ll probably do stump duty in a few weeks. I have four stumps to remove now. That’s a good summer-time, early Saturday morning job.

I got all the cabinet doors & drawer fronts stained last night. Both sides. Tonight I tack-cloth and spray polyurethane, then help Kylene clean.
