I finally figured out why this bothers me!

The app I’m working on at work is in it’s -very- early stages. The screen mockups were created by a group of consultants who are no longer with us.

I’m glad, since that means we -might- be able to change this. The prototype skin on the app has bothered me for a lot of reasons, the least of which is the horrible things it does to text boxes. Yes, that’s right, apparently, using a default text box appearance is… too normal. Our intrepid designers want our application to look…

Well to me, it just looks so 2001. And by 2001, I mean a gargantuan failure of a 2001 product which never really saw the light of day.

Allow me to show you what I mean in partial screenshots. But before I do, Sit Down. Those of you who know me may find this as creepy as I do.

I am -very- afraid. I only hope we can get this changed. What’s wrong with a text box looking like a text box instead of a horribly drop-shadowed, homage to absolute, total failure? *AHHHHGGGGGHHHHH*

I feel like I should run… but I don’t know where, and I don’t run, and it’s cold outside.
