He said, “OH NOOOO!”

Weds night, after taking a nap to recover from Tues night, I went out to the garage to work on the chest of drawers.

My goal was to cut the dados to receive the internal frames in the center legs, and ends of the carcass. I took my time to get the table saw setup, it was -perfect.

I picked up an end, put it down, and ran it across the blade. It took 10 seconds to cut the dado. I put the panel on the floor next to the other one, and then I started yelling, “Oh No!”

There I was, standing in the garage, both hands on my head, yelling “NO NO NOOO NOOO NOOONNNNOOOO!!! AWWWWWHHHH NOOOO!”

Kylene looked out, saw I still had all my fingers, and that there wasn’t blood all over the place, then opened the door to ask what was wrong.

I pointed, she looked, and then for the first time I said it out loud. “I cut the groove in the -front- of the end instead of the back!” Yep, right through the frame around the panel. Right through the frame….

I came inside. It took me a few days to figure out the best way to fix it, without making a new panel, and without having to find / make / use a new piece of 7/8″ thick ash. In fact at risk of jinxing myself, I think it looks better now than it did.

Ok, time to go outside and cut dado’s now.
