Elin’s Rocking Chair

In 2006 I started my journey into woodworking.

I bought a cheap-o 10″ table saw at Lowes, and borrowed any other tools I didn’t have from a friend. I did this in order to build a rocking chair for my niece, Elinor.

The chair was made of red oak reclaimed from a “built in” that was in my home when I purchased it.

I cut the mortises by hand with chisels, and did a lot of work with a jig saw and belt sander for the rockers. The joints were all doweled — yes, I purchased a doweling jig. I’ve used it a lot since then.
